THE TOAST OF THE TOWN

Like a lot of small businesses, The Revel Bakery grew from a passion for bread, with Maurice baking from the kitchen at his home in Monks Kirby, Warwickshire, in 2007. The house was on the grounds of the Revel School, within one of the five parishes known as ‘The Revel’.

Malt Kiln Farm Shop became the hub of operations and we were soon exceeding the ‘maybe 30-40 loaves a week’ initially agreed. Shortly after, Lac joined the Revel team, followed by Alice.

Before too long we were producing bread for other businesses. Everything got bigger; the mixer, the oven, the quantities of flour, a small van, then a bigger van, with production rising to over 1000 loaves a week.

In 2014 we entered the Tiptree World Bread Awards and won the overall category for our red onion focaccia. Many more awards have followed.

We opened our shop in Rugby Town at Churchside Arcade in 2016, ‘Revelicious’, extending our product lines and making pastries and cakes, in addition to selling our bread.

Later in 2016 there was a devastating fire at Malt Kiln Farm Shop. We relocated to Little Walton, Pailton, and within three months we were back producing.

As of 2022, we work exclusively from Churchside Arcade, where the aromas waft down the street from the early hours. Maurice now spends his time playing with his wood fired oven in Madeira, but Lac and Alice continue the tradition of baking great bread and pastries in Rugby Town.
